to October 1954 Playmate of Monthto August 1954 Playmate of Month Playboy September 1954 Playmate of Month  Jackie Rainbow

We have reclassified Jackie from her formerly "deceased" status to an individual who's status is "in limbo". The decision is based upon the following email message from Stan Lapinski:

I don't think that the Jackie Rainbow who died on June 15, 1988 was the playmate.

My research points to a Jacqueline Rainbow who was a dancer at the Windmill Theatre in London, England in the late 1940's.

On the back of a 1949 Windmill souvenir booklet, she is described as: 18 years old; 5' 4"; 126 lbs.; ash blonde hair; blue eyes.

The limited number of photos I have seen seem to support my hypothesis that the English dancer was the Playmate.

I've been in touch with Maurice Poole who is an expert in English theatres in general, and the Windmill in particular, and he asked a retired dancer, a contemporary of Jacqueline Rainbow, if she was the Playmate and she confirmed that she was. That former dancer also speculated that Jacqueline Rainbow was not her real name.

Both Maurice Poole and I are continuing to look for more information about her.

As a general principle, I don't trust anything Playboy says about the early Playmates. Remember, for more than 40 years they believed that Margaret Scott and Marilyn Waltz were different models. It was an independent researcher like me who pointed out to them that they were the same woman.
